Jeffrey J. Sopko

Jeff Sopko has been with Pearne & Gordon LLP since 1974 and has been a partner since 1979. His practice is focused on domestic and foreign patent, trademark and copyright prosecution, litigation, licensing, and general advice to clients, with particular experience in the electronics, mechanical, and nuclear fields. Jeff has handled various intellectual property disputes and has rendered non-infringement, patentability, and validity opinions. Jeff has also drafted and negotiated various licensing and business agreements.

Prior to joining Pearne & Gordon LLP, Jeff worked at the Cleveland Electric Illuminating Co. and was responsible for trouble analysis and field testing of bulk power systems. Jeff was an electronic airborne communications and surveillance officer of the 263rd Maintenance Co., U.S. Army in Phu Bai, Viet Nam. He performed field testing of infrared and side-looking airborne radar systems for the Airborne Communications and Electronics Special Warfare Board, U.S. Army in Ft. Bragg, North Carolina.

Jeff is a member of the American Bar Association, the Cleveland Bar Association, the Fédération Internationale des Conselis en Propriété Industrielle, the American Intellectual Property Law Association, the Cleveland Intellectual Property Law Association, and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers.
